Personal Support Worker
Wabun Tribal Council
Wabun Tribal Council is seeking a Personal Support Worker to serve Brunswick House First Nation and Chapleau Ojibwe First Nation.
Working under the supervision of the Community Health Nurse and the direction of the Health Director, the Personal Support Worker provides personal care, household management and respite assistance based on clients’ assessed needs. The role supports home care clients in living independently in their own homes.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support and personal care to elderly clients.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living.
- Promote independence and self-care while providing companionship.
- Support clients in maintaining medical regimens and provide respite care.
- Accompany clients to local appointments.
- Prepare meals based on clients’ care plans and provide light housekeeping.
- Assess and report changes in clients’ overall condition to the Community Health Nurse.
- Maintain a safe and healthy home environment.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided in the CEMR.
- Complete and submit monthly reports to the Community Health Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions and communities.
- Current Personal Support Worker certification.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- A satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered an asset.
