Economic Development Officer

Beaverhouse First Nation
Beaverhouse First Nation is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic professional to join its team as an Economic Development Officer.

This position will play an important role in supporting the growth, transformation, and development of Beaverhouse First Nation in the Kirkland Lake area.

Beaverhouse Band Members and Indigenous persons will be given priority.

Duties

  • Develop economic development projects with stakeholders and prepare appropriate funding applications.
  • Review statistics, community information, and consultation documents to develop Strategic Action Plans.
  • Participate in networking with regional First Nation communities and Indigenous economic development organizations, including trade shows, workforce development conferences, and business development seminars.
  • Compile signed industry agreements and design and maintain an archival directory for organizational capacity building.
  • Support organizational and community development through planning, data collection, and research.
  • Create capacity-building opportunities for Beaverhouse membership through entrepreneurship workshops, cooperatives, business ventures, and other entrepreneurial training.

Community Engagement & Consultation

  • Apply the First Nations principles of OCAPĀ®. Training will be provided.
  • Create and maintain a repository of MOUs and agreements with industry partners.
  • Assist with the creation of an Economic Development Action Committee and development of its Terms of Reference.
  • Assist with consultation activities and prepare reports for community members, Band management, and leadership as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Willingness to be trained in the Economic Development sector.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and other related office programs.

Assets

  • Understanding of Native culture, traditions, teachings, and community dynamics.
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
