Choose Life Worker
Beaverhouse First Nation
This position plays a key role in delivering culturally grounded youth programming, including services through the NAN Choose Life program, with a focus on promoting cultural living and preventing youth suicide.
Priority will be given to Beaverhouse Band Members and Indigenous applicants
Key Responsibilities

Maintain a culturally safe, positive, and enriching environment for youth participating in office-based and land-based programming.

Deliver culturally appropriate services through the NAN Choose Life program.

Engage youth and families to identify barriers to accessing services.

Provide counselling support, coordinate referrals, and facilitate youth sharing circles.

Partner with social service providers to ensure coordinated care and support.

Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, progress notes, privacy forms, incident reports, and releases.

Assist with upkeep and maintenance of program facilities and resources.

Attend required training and workshops, including out-of-town sessions.

Maintain confidentiality and positive working relationships with coworkers, clients, and partner agencies.

Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
-
-
Minimum 1–2 years of education or experience in Social Service Work, Child & Youth Work, or a related field.

Experience facilitating or coordinating group activities.
-
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, TEAMS, and related programs.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Highly motivated, reliable, and committed

Wednesday, September 20, 2023 – As you may know the Chiefs of Ontario will be having a rally held in Ottawa on September 20, 2023 for First Nations Opposition to the Passing of Bill C-53. We would like to extend the invitation to all Chief & Council as well as community members that would like to attend.
